Should I buy a Desktop PC, Gaming Laptop or Macbook Pro for Music Production?

If you’re not in problem with budget you can buy both. But if you think for “budget efficiency” just go to gaming laptop because you will need more money for the electricity and impossible to bring your desktop PC to a live concert, right? Except you have both desktop pc and gaming laptop.. Remember, don’t ever mind “gaming laptop or windows pc isn’t for music production”. As you can see there’s a lot of music producer using macbook but not all. Basshunter (Jonas Erik Altberg - Swedish DJ & music producer) is one of producers who using windows pc & gaming laptop.

It’s all about hardware performance, technically a gaming laptop can beat up the macbook pro performances (according to the specs). But why a lot of producers use macbook ? There’s some possibilities :

1. Because they’re not a gamer

Be yourself, just focused to your projects
2. Because they’re not interested with visual projects
*as like photo/videography projects, editing, 3D or other works which need more powerful GPU.

Above is a picture taken in Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc Studio while developes an interactive video project (AR) with Windows PC, a music video for AAA (Japanese musical group) from avextrax (their label). That’s why usually a music label don’t think about video because they video is being developed with other corporated company.
If you can make both music and music video, it will be the advantages in entertainment industry.
3. Because they’re SO rich
Even they’re gamers, they buy console than a powerful laptop instead.

4. Because they’re endorsed or in stricted contract with their talent agency/label.
That’s why you can see from their posts on social media is just PERFECT because all the way scripted.
